Where
I ‘m From
I am from the Barbie’s era.
From the minute maid lemonade and the music device
players.
I am from the late afternoon TV nights.
I am from the rose petals and the rainy thunderous
days.
I am from the Sunday barbecuing and laughter.
From Fernando and Silvia and Monroy.
I am from the board games.
From the not doing to others what you don’t want
them to do to you and the power of believing in yourself at all times.
I am from the belief that there is a God and his son
is Jesus Christ, as well as believing in his mother the virgin Mary.
Although I
still have my questions, I am a Catholic fellow
I'm from Monclova but I carry Spanish and Italian
blood, from the enchiladas and the greenhouse salads.
From the time that my grandmother made me pancakes,
the feeling that she brought into me when she especially made them for me only, and the time when my brother got invited into his
first boxing competition and won the battle.
I am from the
pictures on the wall staircase which bring joy to everyone who comes and the
videotapes from those past birthdays that imply and remind me who I am as a
person and will not only remain on the cassette shelve forever but as well as in
my heart. Introduction Paragraph
I consider myself a catholic person but I feel that in many ways my religion relies more in my beliefs than actually in the church. My race and my culture would definitely be part of my beliefs since I was born and raced in Mexico. The different traditions and culture has teach me to be the person I am today. Being a female in the United States has showed me not only that I could have my own perspective and freedom but also the power that women have had already in history.
