Water indispensable connection.
Imagine a life without water. About 70
percent of the earth’s surface is surrounded by it, 97 percent is salt water, 2
percent glacier ice, and only 1 percent is fresh water. If we pictured for a
second a life without water it would simply not make any sense, first able
water is the source of all life, therefore trees get to be green, humans get to
have movements, and it also provides us power sources. Water is essential to us
in many different ways; it has been present in our lives since the beginning of
all times. It is currently involved in our daily routines such as taking a
shower, being at mass or even when we cry. Water possesses emotional, creative
and spiritual power, connecting us to an enormous need of it.
In the past years there have been
wars about territories and conquering other civilizations. On this century time
the real problem now is water. Scientific research mentions that in a couple of
years water will be scarce in our world. And as Ferris implies in this quote
“Water will probably even be increasingly fought over. In instances, such water
conflicts will lead to violence and even war” (Ferris 26, Par 2). The countries will begin to put aside
resources like oil and minerals and will eventually take action on being able
to have access to water. That’s way organizations like “go green” are trying to make the people be more eco-responsible and
self-conscious about the importance of it. By creating projects of recycling
and river/lakes protection agreements, water has brought us together as a
community to try to save it from disappearing completely.
Water
is present not only the physical ways but also in spiritual ways. Different religions
and cultures involve the belief of this resource as a sense of life or could
also be seen as beyond in reality. A well-known example for this would be in
the story written on the bible called
“Noah’s Ark ” The story displays the picture of a flood that god bestowed upon
earth because humanity was being ungrateful to him and did not worship (love)
him as he wanted humans to do. The meaning of water here can be assumed as
purification or cleanse, here water’s mission was to cure humanity from their
curse of ingratitude. In many different religions water is involved, and as it
is narrated in this quote “is believed by many to be the womb from which all
life was born” (Ferris 27 Par 2). Ferris interprets the idea of water
connecting to humans by the different beliefs which are encountered with faith
and traditions. This would be an essential part of many liturgies and different
rituals so therefore it can be interpreted as a common symbol in the different
religions. Water connects us all as a religious community by different beliefs,
traditions and faith.
A
beautiful landscape can be seen as a relaxing picture but at the same time it
can also bring creativity right into a human beings mind. Water has been used
in many different ways that could alter human’s emotions and creativity though
the sound and also by view. Every mind of an individual is different and full
of imagination. The sound of it would be one creative example of how water motion
is interpreted in a river, a waterfall or rain. This individual makes us
connect to it by understanding what its meaning is and by helping us to figure
out the idea that it is trying to give us. Sometimes a human being can picture
a thunder storm with only a few drops of water instead of listening to the
message it is trying to give us. Water is a miraculous gift from God which can
bring creativity into the human’s mind, just as it is implied in the quote
“Today the waters of the Jordan are changed into a remedy by the presence of
the Lord” (Lachecki 49 Par 1). The author’s mind connected the idea of the
water of the Jordan River as a remedy of the Lord’s presence. This is an
example of how water can connect into a human’s mind and create different
images of it by only seeing it and picturing it as something beyond reality.
Religion is sometimes involved fully throughout creativity because of the many
different meanings that God has given to it. Humans connect their creativity
throughout waters picturesque landscapes and sounds.
Water
is an indispensable source of life for humans. We have learned that without it,
our lives would not have a concrete meaning, and this idea can even lead us
into wars and violence. The importance of it is beyond our comprehension but we
know it is essential for us in order to live and be united as a community. The
spiritual power that it provides to us is a connection that could be called a
common religious symbol in a worldwide view. In the other hand the emotional
power is where we as humans share the different emotions that were given to us
by God such as laughter and tears; and these are some examples of how water is
present with us throughout emotions too. And finally the creative power that
connects humans with water, this can be interpreted in various ways such as a
landscape or also as religious beliefs, this means can enter the human mind and
by a simple sound or picture and can develop a whole other level of creativity
within us without carrying about its physical presence. By water possessing
emotional, creative and spiritual powers, this completes the idea of it connecting
us to an enormous need of it, and a belief for us to maintain it safe.
