The Writing Process

The Writing Process
“Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.” (Writer’s Digest). As Barbara Kingsolver displays in the quote, she points out a very interesting and important fact as a writer which overlaps with the ideas of the writing process. By understanding that sometimes writing can be difficult and tiring, a writer has to understand that even though it is a hard journey, in the end his hard work and thoughts will be the only thing that matters and everything that seemed difficult at first, will eventually disappear. Throughout my experience of writing I have learned that writing is not simply done, and so as understanding how to catch the readers mind, but once you learn how to attach your thoughts to your mind and heart the rest eventually comes out into written words. Difficulties have been present on my path, but as a dedicated writer I have learned how to overcome those obstacles and started to be prepared for the future. The different tasks that I have used in this portfolio determines that I have used methods of prewriting, researching and drafting, helping me as a writer to develop better critical thinking and writing skills. Though my improvement has been set on summarizing and learning how to evaluate sources areas, I still remain as an open learner to perfection my troubles and fully understand the responsibility of decisions about planning ahead and commit to my goals of being a better writer through the time.
Understanding the importance of writing, it’s the ultimate key for every writer. Writing is not simply done by deciding what you want to say or what other people may want to hear, in other words this complicated writing idea is composed of an interesting process. Through time, people are boarded to learn how to identify their own strengths and as I have experienced the different ways of the writing process, I can assure that my strengths are accomplishing the areas of prewriting and connecting my personal analysis with reaching and questioning my own personal thoughts. As implied in this quote “In the poem “Delight in Nature” translated by Tom Lowenstein, the imagery displayed of nature through water is expressed by an Inuit poet. The poem connects to the reader’s mind, by bringing out the poet’s history.” (Delight in Nature 1). I extended my skills of prewriting and by introducing the author’s idea of imagery and I explained a bit about his actual historical background. To display accurate ideas of the author’s background I used two different areas which overlapped with my personal thoughts, they were questioning and researching, by accomplishing this two, I finally brought up all of my ideas together and could prepare an accurate presentation of my personal writing. As every writer has its strength’s, he also has to learn how to identify his own struggles and challenges. Having my own personal difficulties I believe is harder to see and sometimes it can also be hard to accept. My biggest challenges that I had to experience are learning how to be accurate with punctuations, grammar errors and run-ons. As it is implied in this quote “The most important day of my life was when I got the opportunity to come to study into the United States. This journey began on the day I was done with elementary school; my parents proposed me to move to San Antonio and study high school in order to have a better education as well as a new environment. This decision was very important for me because as my dad once said, “this would define your future later on” (The Most Important Day 1). The ideas that were brought up to my mind at the time, were not completely accurate because I was reflecting on myself and had to address specific samples from my personal experiences. Punctuations and run-ons were brought up many times on this particular assignment, but as I started revised carefully my essay eventually it stayed off of them. My greatest challenge as a writer would be that sometimes I do not have the complete strength to write down accurate ideas; it is easier for me to understand what I am going to do than to actually write it down. To become a better writer I try use different strategies such as revising and peer reviewing to keep helping me on improve my strengths and challenges.
Once writers identify the importance of their own personal thoughts and opinions, they have now learned how to become better writers. Though the journey of strengths and challenges the writer experiences how to become better on its struggles but also helps him to keep improving on what he already has as an strength. Remaining myself as an open learner has opened many doors for me but also it has helped me to understand better the writing process. Finally by following the steps and rules of this process it comes to conclude that after time there is no such thing as difficulties. Indicating that by identifying all of my struggles and accomplishments it lastly has helped me to understand how to perfection my troubles and fully understand the responsibility of decisions about planning ahead and commit to my goals of being a better writer through the time.
